Hard Drive (HDD)

• Low cost
• Low speed (Read/Write)
• Stores information on spinning disks and magnetic strips
• Contains magnetic bits
• Destroying the disk via magnets is called Degaussing
• Speed measured in RPM (Rotations per Minute)
• Common speeds
  • 5400 RPM
  • 7200 RPM
  • 10000 RPM
• Good for things like photos or backups of unimportant files
• Vulnerable to magnets

Solid State Memory (SSD)

• Use flash memory
  • Same type used in USB Drives
• Good for OS
• Compared to HDD
  • Higher Cost
  • Higher Speed
• Not susceptible to Deguassing

Power Supply Unit (PSU)

• Responsible for providing power to all components of the device
